Now a secret agent with Cyber Operations, a covert military force, Brock gets called in, not when the going gets tough, but when the going gets impossible. So when he’s unexpectedly assigned to escort Penelope to the summit meeting, he balks at babysitting a prissy ambassador. My cyborg love continues to run strong. Throw in a dangerous, uninhabited planet for them to shack up on and I'm blissing out. Because two people being stranded places hits my happy button. One of them being a cyborg just makes it more delicious.Honestly, Pia's a wee bit headstrong. While I get where she was coming from as far as not wanting a bodyguard, she did take some bone-headed risks with her own safety. If not for her hunky protector, she would have ended up dead a couple of times over. Oh, and since I prefer Pia to Penelope, I'm sticking to calling her that.
Brock. Cyborgs are my weakness and this one didn't disappoint. He's fast. He's strong. He's determined to keep his distance from this particular woman. Until he doesn't. Then he's all about getting close. Until he remembers what he is. Huh. The guy sure does flip-flop a lot over how he should deal with Pia. I mean, I get why he needed to keep his secret a secret, but sometimes you just have to climb a tree and go to town with a lady. AS ONE DOES!
Terrorists of the intergalactic variety, super secret agencies trying to stop the bad guys from winning, and a couple who can't decide whether they need to keep their distance or get REALLY close made this one fun. Plus, you know, cyborgs. I JUST CAN'T RESIST THE CYBORGS!

Stranded with the Cyborg CyOps Cyborg Romance Book 1 eBook Cara Bristol Reviews
I discovered this series when I found Mated to the Cyborg, book two, and loved it so I kept reading and anticipating each new release. But, guess what? I forgot to go back and read book one. The author made it free and I still managed to wait forever. I'm reading it now though. Yay for getting Brock and Penelope's story finally.
Stranded with the Cyborg begins with Brock Mann, a covert ops cyborg, getting assigned to the dreaded brat that he'd been forced to do protection detail aka babysit through her snits and teenage rebellion back in the day. Now, Pia as he called her is a grown woman and an ambassador on her first important mission. And, she might be hot to trot, but she's still impulsive, naive, and a touch bratty.
Penelope doesn't want or feel she needs a bodyguard against a terrorist threat so she attempts to just do her thing. Then, ugh, its the man she totally crushed on and was a total jerk teenager to, and he sees her latest action to ditch her bodyguard as proof that she hasn't matured at all.
This one started off iffy for me because I rather thought Brock had the right of it about Penelope. She is more mature in some ways, but her behavior and naivety for the first part of the book were dangerous. She knows better... she's on a mission... those terrorists aren't as bad as everyone says... and it can never happen to me... And how dare the highly skilled, trained, and experienced security expert try to do his job.
But, thankfully, she got a clue about the time she was in the middle of a terrorist attack and things progressed better. Part of the conflict was the sizzle of attraction between them and Brock trying to keep his cyborg side a secret. I loved it when they are stranded and working together on the alien planet. I really feel that one of the author's strengths is her creative backdrops and settings along with character development. Oh, and lets not forget some melty hot love scenes.
So, hoorah, I made it back to the beginning and loved what I got of Brock and Penelope's story. Sci-Fi Romance fans need to do themselves a solid and get going on this series.
Wow! This was great! I love sci-fi reads but you never know if you’re going to get cheesy, awful writing with bad sex scenes. I loved Brock and Pia. Each one was strong but also had feelings. We see that Pia had been a spoiled brat as a teen and made up terrible lies about Brock. But in her 20’s, she has grown up and faces the lies she told straight up and apologizes to Brock right away after they see each other again. I loved that there was no misunderstandings. Pia wasn’t some stupid female. She had heart, spunk, courage. Of course, Brock was alpha, strong, protector (he was a cyborg!). I’ve read one other cyborg author and didn’t like it. The female was weak and the cyborg was a complete jerk. I adored this couple. Can’t say enough about them.
I adore Cyborg romance stories and in my opinion there are not nearly enough of them written. That said, while I enjoyed the story tremendously I couldn't help but feel that something was missing. What that was exactly I'm not altogether sure, but I think that it was simply that the author missed an opportunity to cause a bit of tension by glossing over the fact that what Pia did was the catalyst that caused Brock's near death. You can't basically be the one responsible for putting someone in the position they were in when they nearly died and Not have that be any kind of factor later on. Having said that, I feel the need to point out that I still very much enjoyed the story overall. Brock may be a Cyborg but he doesn't act all mechanical, he has a sense of humor, and a sense of duty, even if Pia disrupts that duty constantly, if unintentionally. It is my personal hope that the author has plans to write many more Cy-Ops books. I will be adding this author to my follow list.
Sci-Fi romance is not what I would normally read but a group of friends decided to give a genre that we normally would not read a try. I chose this book by chance and I lucked out! Stranded with the Cyborg was fun! It's Star Trek with heat! Pia is the former president's daughter and is now ambassador to the planets. Brock was her security officer when she was a teen but he never noticed her because she was so young. She did something stupid that most self centered teens would do and he was reassigned. What she doesn't know is that he was injured during a battle and nearly died and now is a Cyborg! A man with scientific enhancements! It's now 8 years after he lost his position as her guard and he is now reassigned to protect the ambassador on a risky trip. Brock and Pia never expected to see each other and what a reunion this becomes! Their story is told from dual POV and I recommend it to anyone that wants a fun, sexy, sci-fi beach read. I plan on reading more in this series to see what happens in the Alliance of Planets!
